Senior Student 2022 – 2023

Mike Buchanan

I’m Mike and I’m a 2nd year full–time MTh student . I am originally from Dublin and currently live in Co. Louth with my wife, Marti. I have three children (a boy aged 13 in 2nd Year and 2 girls who work full–time). 

I spent 31 years as a Garda Sergeant working in Dublin and I very recently retired in order to pursue full time studies towards Ordination. I had just completed year 3 of a 4 year part time B.A. in Theology in DCU prior to entering CITI.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my son Arlo and engage in several outdoor activities.My particular call to ministry developed over many years. I had actively explored Ordination prior to joining An Garda Siochana, but the time wasn’t right just then. God doesn’t give up, however, and with His love and His persistence, I was finally ready to answer His call! 

I am enjoying the warmth and support of a tremendously close community of students and teaching staff and everyone in CITI makes it feel very much like our second home.
