The Ecumenical Consequences of the Anglican Communion
The Revd Canon Paul Avis, General Secretary of the Church of England’s Council for Christian Unity, gave a public lecture on “The Ecumenical Consequences of the Anglican Communion” in the JM Synge Theatre in the Arts Building, Trinity College Dublin, on 4 May 2011.
Canon Avis is also the Honorary Professor of Theology in the University of Exeter, Canon Theologian of Exeter, a chaplain to Queen Elizabeth II, and the editor of Ecclesiology.
He is the author of a number of significant studies, including Anglicanism and the Christian Church (Revised and expanded edition, 2002), God and the Creative Imagination (1999), and Reshaping Ecumenical Theology (2010).
The lecture was jointly organised by the Church of Ireland Theological Institute, the Dublin Council of Churches, IRCHSS and the Irish School of Ecumenics, Trinity College Dublin.
