Summer has come to Church of Ireland Theological Institute, and the grounds at Braemor Park are bathed in warm summer sunshine, with flowers in full bloom and singing birds on the bows of the trees.
The end–of–year celebrations are always a time of mixed emotion, with students sharing and celebrating successes, and departures being marked with hugs and tears.
The full–time and part–time MTh students had their own end–of–year Eucharistic celebrations, each followed by Bar–B–Cues on the lawns and prizegivings.
There were certificates for excelling in Biblical languages, both Hebrew and Greek, prizegivings for achievements in debates and essays, and presentations to staff moving on to other pastures.
Full–time and part–time staff receiving presentations included Esther Duffy of the Kitchen Staff and Jamie Comerford.
The Bishop Quin Memorial Prize is awarded “to the student who in the opinion of the Director of the Theological Institute has made a significant contribution to the life of the Theological Institute, thereby enhancing the fellowship of staff and students.” This year, the Bishop Quin prize was presented by the Director, the Revd Dr Maurice Elliott, to Year II Student, Linda Frost (Kilmore, Elphin and Ardagh).
