Bishop Miller launches new book edited by CITI lecturers
The new book, edited by Dr Katie Heffelfinger and the Revd Dr Patrick McGlinchey, is a collection of essays addressing that ask how the cross impacts a variety of issues, including suffering, gender relationships, shame, ecology, societal conflict and ecumenical divisions.
The book was launched by Bishop Harold Miller, who is Visitor of the Institute and Bishop of Down and Dromore.
The reception was attended by a large number of guests – including the editors and some of the contributors – who were warmly welcomed by the Director of CITI, the Revd Dr Maurice Elliott.
Dr McGlinchey says: “The book is deliberately multidisciplinary and ecumenical, and showcases the intentionally integrative approach to theology modelled out at CITI.”
The contributors to Atonement as Gift include: Professor Richard Bauckham, former Professor of New Testament Studies at the University of St Andrews, and now living in Cambridge; Dr Elaine Storkey; Professor Stephen Williams, Professor of Systematic Theology, Union Theological College, Belfast; the Revd Dr Richard Clutterbuck, Principal, Edgehill Theological College, Belfast; and the Revd Dr Con Casey, Director of the Loyola Institute, Trinity College Dublin.
