Alexander Chisnall

My name’s Alexander. I am 26 years old. I grew up and have lived in Dublin my whole life. My home church is Crinken (St. James’), Shankill, County Dublin.

For a long time I have felt God’s call on my life. A life called to serve and teach others God’s Word faithfully. I remember writing in my yearbook when leaving school at the age of 18 that in 10 years I hoped to have finished ordination training in Church of Ireland. In God’s wonderful providence that even with short walks away from this idea of ordination over the last few years after my theology degree in Trinity, I am now starting my first year in training at CITI. If you do the math I will be leaving CITI at the age of 28, exactly ten years. It has been an interesting road of discernment, but God has been so good, loving and gracious, and I am excited for the years ahead following His direction.

I am deeply passionate about the Bible and want God’s Word to be shared, taught and preached faithfully everywhere. I see a deep rooted hunger in the world for a relationship with Jesus. I want to see people come to know the Lord in a real, lasting and personal way and see vibrant communities of Christians, young and old, grow deeper and deeper in their relationship with Jesus; as they follow him, read his Word and live out their lives for him with the truth of the Gospel and in the power of the Holy Spirit.

This has really been my prayer from the start of this journey and what I continue to pray now both for myself and others discerning their call:
“To this end we always pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling and may fulfil every resolve for good and every work of faith by his power, so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.” (2 Thessalonians 1:11–12)

In all that I do, in the knowledge that Christ will return being the context of this passage, I want to serve Jesus and be worthy of this calling he has placed on my life.
